Update, Saturday 22, 2021: Pokémon fans are no stranger to trying to catch 'em all, but a the limited edition Oreos are taking it to a whole new level. Similar to the series, certain cookie designs are more rare than others making the cookies a serious collector's item, so much so that some of the cookies are being resold online at pretty steep prices.

There are 16 possible cookie designs in total and some characters, like Mew, are particularly rare to find. Every cookie package is stuffed at random so it's up to luck to see which designs customers may get—that is, unless they go hunting for a specific character online.

Cookie packages which typically sell for less than $5 are being advertised on sites like eBay for $50, $100, $800, and even $2,500. Of course, these high prices are for the ultra rare Mew cookie. I guess it goes to show one man's chocolatey, sweet snack is another man's pay check. What a world!

Original Post, Saturday 8. 2021: The past few years have been marked by food collaborations or revamps that play on our nostalgia, and Oreo's latest may be one of the most exciting. In partnership with Pokémon, Oreo is releasing limited edition cookies and, no surprise here, you're going to want to catch 'em all.

For those who are a fan of the Pokémon franchise, you know how hard it can be to find the extra rare cards for your collection. The cookie collab will be similar and is Oreo's first-ever cookie rarity scheme, meaning while there will be 16 unique cookie designs based on Pokémon characters, some of them will be harder to find than others.

Each cookie pack will be filled at random, so not every pack will include every Pokémon design. Familiar characters like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle may be easier to find, but other designs like Mew will be particularly rare.

If you or someone you love is a Pokémon fan with a sweet tooth, these cookie packs are a must. Plus, with the holidays coming up it's never too early to start shopping. The packs are available for preorder today on the Oreo website for $5.19 and they'll launch nationwide in brick and mortar retailers on September 13. This heads up gives you enough time to start powering up your Pokédex and organizing your cards. Prepare to reignite your childhood obsession, folks, and don't forget the glass of milk for dunking.
