If you're like us and need a cup of coffee before talking to (read: tolerating) anyone in the morning, then you're really not going to be happy about this news. And if you typically brew your own cup at home, you're probably going to be pretty outraged. Thanks to a recent hike on the price of raw coffee, the price tag on your favorite packaged java is about to jump.

That means the cup of joe that used to save you cash in the morning could start costing much more than expected. But at least it won't be as pricey as stopping at Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts, right? Maybe.

Due to an uptick on green coffee prices, all of J.M. Smucker's products—including Folgers, Dunkin' Donuts, and Cafe Bustelo—will experience at least a 6 percent price hike across the country. Thankfully, the company noted, this does not affect the price of prepared coffee drinks at DD, only the retail bags of whole bean and ground coffee that are sold at grocery stores, mass merchandisers, club stores, and drug stores.

Most surprisingly, the price of K-cups will remain the same, Consumerist reports. So even though they're not the best for the environment (and have even been banned in some countries!), they could some day end up being a cheaper alternative to the typical pound of coffee. We'll just have to wait, do lots of math, and see.
