UPDATE: August 09, 2017 at 12:04 p.m.

Yesterday, food blog Candy Hunting got our hopes up a chocolate-glazed Krispy Kreme donut could be in our future. Today, Krispy Kreme confirmed the donut we've been dreaming about is actually happening.

The chocolate-glazed doughnut is similar to Krispy Kreme's famous Original Glazed — a pillowy, vanilla donut — except it's "smothered in a waterfall of chocolate glaze."

The donuts are launching Aug. 19 to coincide with the upcoming solar eclipse. They're only available for a limited time, so mark your dang calendar now.

You can buy the chocolate-coated donuts during evening Hot Light hours on Saturday and Sunday, August 19-20, and all day on Monday, the 21st.

I'm not sure which is more important, the eclipse or this new Krispy Kreme donut flavor. Sure one only happens, like, once a century, but the other has never happened ever. So you decide. Fans of the North Carolina-based chain, AKA everyone, have long awaited the opportunity to have hot, chocolate-glazed doughnuts, and rumor has it that they are on their way.

Just imagining chocolate replacing the original glazed recipe coat a conveyor belt of fresh donuts is enough to make me drool. But alas, Krispy Kreme has never accepted the idea because the chocolate doesn't harden fast enough.

That's why when Instagram user @candyhunting posted a picture announcing a solar eclipse themed Krispy Kreme donut, we screamed very, very loudly. According to his post, from August 19 to 21(the day of the eclipse), Krispy Kreme will be offering chocolate donut, glazed with chocolate icing, a never before seen flavor. Everyone pray to the donut gods, this must be real.

The user is known for leaking new snacks, like the Peanut Butter & Jelly Oreos or Top Ramen Pringles, which both turned out to be real, so it would not be strange if this leak is too. So far there has been no confirmation, however we have reached out to Krispy Kreme for comment.
